Dental Cleanings in South Austin TX

Your best bet for a beautiful, comfortable smile and long-term oral health is preventive care through checkups and cleanings and your own home care. While you may feel the desire to put your checkups and teeth cleanings off, visiting us regularly can greatly increase your likelihood of avoiding problems, such as cavities. Rest assured, our goal is to provide our patients with a comfortable, enjoyable visit every time. Even if you experience anxiety regarding dental visits, we will accommodate your needs.

Why Do I Need Checkups and Cleanings?

Even with excellent home hygiene through daily brushing and flossing, you cannot clean your teeth as effectively as a professional. At our dental practice, we have special tools to remove plaque and tartar left behind by even the most detailed home hygiene. When you skip dental cleanings, you leave plaque on your teeth that can lead to tooth decay. Plaque left on your teeth turns to tartar, and may eventually lead to tooth decay problems, including cavities, gingivitis, and even periodontal disease. Visit us regularly so your hygiene efforts at home can truly pay off in the long run.

In addition to your cleaning, the checkup portion of your dental visit allows us to catch problems before they arise, or in their earliest stages. For example, Dr. Jaeckle will use dental technology called DIAGNOdent during your visit. This dental technology checks individual teeth to look for early signs of cavity formation. By catching issues early, we can offer the most conservative forms of treatment while saving you time, effort, discomfort, and money.

What Can I Expect?

Dr. Jaeckle and our team will explain your checkup and cleaning before and during your visit, so you always feel comfortable and informed. If you feel particularly anxious regarding dental visits, we encourage you to let Dr. Jaeckle know. He offers sedation options, including nitrous oxide and oral sedation, upon request, for your comfort.

During your visit, we will use professional tools examine your mouth, looking for changes or signs of conditions which require treatments, such as cavities. We will also  remove plaque from your teeth and polish them, so you go home with a plaque-free, clean smile. In addition, we may take X-rays and digital images with intraoral cameras, so Dr. Jaeckle can show you on a screen exactly what he sees when he looks in your mouth. Dr. Jaeckle always ensures you have time to discuss questions or concerns. If you notice changes in your mouth, no matter how small, please inform Dr. Jaeckle or a member of our team so we can guide you toward appropriate treatments and monitor your oral health during every visit.

How Often Should I Schedule A Visit?

Unless Dr. Jaeckle specifies otherwise, we suggest you visit us for a checkup and cleaning once every six months. However, if you find yourself in need of an emergency visit, whether during or after office hours, contact of office or Dr. Jaeckle immediately so we can schedule an appointment, and return you to good oral health.
